## Description

Cwtch is a decentralized, privacy-preserving, multi-party messaging protocol that offers a safe and secure space for communication. The word Cwtch is derived from a Welsh term that translates to a hug that creates a safe place. With a focus on decentralized infrastructure and surveillance resistance, Cwtch ensures that no information is exchanged or available without explicit consent, including on-the-wire messages and protocol metadata. By using end-to-end encryption and Tor v3 onion services, Cwtch ensures that all communication is private and encrypted. Unlike centralized platforms, Cwtch does not rely on a centralized server to route messages, minimizing metadata exposure. Cwtch gives users more control over their communication, allowing them to protect not only the content of their messages but also their identity. Users have the ability to host their own safe spaces or lend their infrastructure to others seeking a secure environment. Cwtch is ideal for individuals who prioritize privacy and need a safe space to communicate with friends, family, comrades, and fellow activists.
