# Cyperaceae - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `cyperaceae.org` ## Description The Global Cyperaceae Database (GCypD) is an international resource dedicated to documenting and improving taxonomic knowledge of the sedge family, Cyperaceae, one of the world’s ten largest plant families. Built on the World Checklist of Vascular Plants and hosted on the Aphia platform through World Flora Online, it brings together Cyperaceae datasets from around the world. Its international taxonomic expert network assesses, edits and updates information, including plant names, taxonomic concepts and geographic distributions. The database offers an online checklist and taxonomic treatment, with entries developed to varying levels by contributing authors. Users can explore taxa, distributions, specimens, literature and images, and access tools such as identification keys, traits and a taxonomic tree. Distribution records were initially compiled from Plants of the World Online, while names and taxonomic concepts draw on multiple sources and subsequent treatments.
