## Description

Sistema DAPHabitat is Portugal’s national registration programme for Type III Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) covering products and services in the habitat and construction sector. It helps communicate scientifically grounded information about environmental impacts, based on life-cycle assessment studies and independently verified before publication. The programme aims to support the identification and reduction of negative environmental impacts across the habitat value chain.

DAPHabitat provides guidance on preparing EPDs, including data collection, product category rules (PCRs), verification and registration. Its public database features registered declarations for products such as ceramic blocks and bricks, plasterboard and other construction materials. The system also offers information about available PCRs, developing new rules, verification bodies and verifiers, and programme documentation.

Established through a project associated with Portugal’s Sustainable Habitat Cluster, DAPHabitat promotes objective, independent assessment and wider access to validated environmental information. It participates in international cooperation through ECO Platform, a network of European EPD programme operators in the construction sector. The programme is operated by Cluster Habitat, with technical and contact services based in Portugal.
