# Dark Future - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `dark-future.com` ## Description Dark Future is a free, browser-based crime and mafia MMORPG created as a fan-made recreation of the classic dark-future.org game. Set in a shared, persistent underworld, it invites players to build a criminal empire, starting as an unknown street-level character and working toward the rank of Godfather. The game spans eight world cities, where players can commit crimes, develop hidden offensive, defensive, and stealth abilities, and progress through 27 criminal ranks. Players can also trade contraband by buying goods where they are inexpensive and selling them in cities where they are scarce. Additional activities include trading on the stock market, gambling through Russian Roulette, Blackjack, and the Lottery, and banking cash. For more competitive play, players can arm themselves, hunt rivals, place bounties, and help crew members escape jail. Crews offer a private forum and shared vault for coordinating their activities.
