## Description

DarkArts Studios is an independent South African studio creating games, tabletop role-playing experiences, and development tools. Its work spans arcade shooters and roguelikes designed for pick-up-and-play sessions, as well as dark-fantasy tabletop worlds and OSR resources for self-paced play. The studio’s games are available through Steam and itch.io, while its tabletop releases are offered on itch.io.

Its catalogue includes Star Warrior, a space shooter handwritten in BASIC by a 12-year-old in 1989, and By Raven, a dark-fantasy roleplaying experience that can be played without a table, virtual tabletop, or fixed schedule. Tabletop tools include the 2D6 Map Maker and a Knave Character Generator, which supports random seeds, shareable UIDs, and first- and second-edition rules.

DarkArts Studios also develops Unity editor plugins for creators, with tools focused on GUI, sound, and signage. These are available through the Unity Asset Store. The studio is built by Clive Crous, who has worked in games and open source for over twenty years. Its website also features devlogs and a press kit.
