## Description

**DarkSky Missouri**

DarkSky Missouri is an official chapter of DarkSky International, dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of Missouri's night skies by combating light pollution. Based in the heart of Missouri, this organization promotes initiatives such as the "Lights Out Heartland" campaign, aiming to reduce bird fatalities caused by light-related collisions during migratory seasons. They offer resources like the "Certify Your Home" program, guiding residents to make their properties more night-sky friendly.

Engaging in citizen science, DarkSky Missouri invites the public to participate in various projects, utilizing tools like smartphones and telescopes to measure light pollution. They also curate stunning photographs of the Milky Way taken by talented photographers from the community. With an eye towards education and outreach, the organization hosts events, including the annual DarkSky Festival, focusing on stargazing and environmental awareness. Through workshops, talks, and informative resources, DarkSky Missouri exemplifies leadership in fostering a deeper appreciation for the wonders of the night sky while advocating for sustainable lighting practices.
