## Description

Data for Sustainability (D4S) is an independent research consultancy that supports sustainable wetland management and conservation through innovative data and science-based analysis. With a focus on Southeast Asia, the consultancy works on tropical peatlands and mangroves—ecosystems facing degradation from logging, drainage, fires, sea-level rise and land subsidence. D4S aims to help practitioners address these challenges while supporting biodiversity and reducing carbon emissions.

The company provides customized, cost-effective data solutions for restoration and carbon project developers, including peat mapping, hydrology analysis, restoration planning, and assessments of peat thickness, carbon stocks and creditable carbon volumes. Its work also covers canal-block design and supervision for peatland rewetting, and the development of field monitoring programs for water-table depth and subsidence. D4S applies in-house LiDAR methods to derive land and water levels from satellite data, helping reduce reliance on airborne surveys and extensive fieldwork. The consultancy has supported more than 30 wetland research and restoration projects, and its team has published research papers, book chapters, technical reports and policy reports.
