## Description

The German Alpine Club (DAV) Section Giessen is a local mountaineering association serving members of all ages in and around Giessen. It offers opportunities to enjoy climbing, hiking, cycling and other mountain-sport activities, alongside courses and training. Members can take part in youth programmes, a competitive climbing group, hiking groups, a monthly bike meetup and Berggenuss 50+, which brings together participants aged 50 and over. The section also organizes tours and events, with destinations ranging from local routes to mountain regions farther afield.

For climbing and bouldering, the section operates the DAV Climbing and Bouldering Centre Giessen and the Kletterbunker. Its facilities welcome visitors during scheduled opening hours, while the centre provides a place to climb, practise and connect with other enthusiasts. The section is also associated with the Gießener Hütte, an alpine hut that has undergone major renovation. Through its activities, facilities, tours and community groups, DAV Section Giessen supports people seeking outdoor recreation, skills development and shared experiences in the mountains.
