## Description

This alliance comprises the most important academic organizations in Germany, including the German Research Foundation, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service, and many more prestigious institutions. The Alliance strongly supports the Federal Government's actions against Russia's belligerent attack on Ukraine, viewing it as a violation of international law and an assault on fundamental values of freedom, democracy, and self-determination. They express full solidarity with their partners in Ukraine and pledge to continue academic collaborations and support students and academics displaced by the conflict. In response to the crisis, the Alliance intends to freeze academic cooperation with state institutions and business enterprises in Russia. They recommend that German research funds no longer benefit Russia and urge the avoidance of joint events with academic or research policy implications. While aware of the consequences for science, the Alliance emphasizes the importance of international cooperation in addressing global challenges like climate change and infectious diseases. Their solidarity also extends to Russian cooperation partners who denounce Russia's invasion.
