## Description

D-CENT (Decentralised Citizens ENgagement Technologies) is an innovative brand that emerged from a Europe-wide project aimed at revolutionizing democracy through technology. Active between October 2013 and May 2016, D-CENT focused on creating open-source, distributed, and privacy-oriented tools designed for citizen engagement and economic empowerment. The brand encourages collaboration among open-source developers, social movements, and democracy advocates to cultivate a thriving community.

D-CENT's suite of tools empowers citizens by allowing them to stay informed about important issues, collaboratively propose and draft policies, and engage in collective decision-making and budgeting through novel blockchain reward schemes. Their tools have been successfully piloted in cities like Barcelona, Reykjavik, and Madrid, enhancing municipal decision-making and citizen participation.

D-CENT fosters a decentralized ecosystem built on open standards and APIs, promoting the ownership of personal data and trust through transparent reward systems. It continues to push the boundaries of democratic engagement in Europe and beyond, seeking to build long-term alternatives to contemporary centralized platforms.
