## Description

The Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership is a non-profit organisation dedicated to developing and promoting the region’s branch lines. Based at the University of Plymouth, it brings together local authorities, railway operators and the university. Its core funding partners include Cornwall Council, Devon County Council, Great Western Railway, South Western Railway and CrossCountry Trains.

The partnership works to attract more people to rail travel, engage local communities, support economic growth and help deliver improvements to services and stations. It collaborates with community volunteers and other partners to make stations more welcoming and encourage tourism and car-free travel. Its projects include initiatives such as the Tamar Valley Festival of Blossom, the Looe Pirate Trail and campaigns supporting the Mid Cornwall Metro and Jurassic Coast tourism.

The partnership supports nine lines, including the Tarka, Dartmoor, Riviera, Tamar Valley, Looe Valley, Atlantic Coast, Maritime and St Ives Bay lines. Founded in 1991 as the UK’s first Community Rail Partnership, it reports helping secure more frequent trains and contributing to a 20% increase in branch-line journeys over two years.
