## Description

Dětský diagnostický ústav, ZŠ a jídelna Bohumín is a public educational and care institution established by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. Founded in 1953, it provides round-the-clock services for children who need care beyond that available from those responsible for their upbringing. Children may be admitted under court-ordered institutional or protective education, or a preliminary measure. The institution’s work includes diagnostic, educational, social, therapeutic and coordinating services, alongside schooling and meals. Its activities are delivered at its main site in Bohumín and its separate Hájkova facility in Ostrava-Přívoz. The organisation also supports children’s learning and wellbeing through school and leisure activities, and shares news and information for families and relevant professionals. Its website provides resources such as admission questionnaires, annual reports, school programmes and internal rules. The institute serves a broad area of the Moravian-Silesian region, with a listed catchment covering cities and towns including Ostrava, Karviná, Opava and Frýdek-Místek. It also participates in projects supporting staff development and children’s mental health.
