## Description

Deanland Airfield is a privately operated light aviation hub in the South Downs of East Sussex, near Hailsham and around 15 minutes by road from Glyndebourne Opera House. Established as RAF Deanland during the Second World War, it served as an Advanced Landing Ground and hosted fighter squadrons, including those flying Spitfires. The historic site has supported light aviation since 1963 and pilot training since 2002.

Today, Deanland provides facilities and services for resident pilots and visiting aircraft, including hangarage and parking, landing-fee payments, and online prior permission requests (PPR), which are always required. Flight training and experience flights are available through Flight Sport Aviation, which also offers light sport aircraft hire. The airfield welcomes private and corporate helicopters visiting Glyndebourne, with an illuminated runway and helipad, plus a crew room with refreshments, air conditioning, television and internet access. News, events, visitor information and a gallery help pilots and the public explore the site.
