## Description

The Order of the Dragon Tower is a dedicated society committed to the preservation and protection of the historic Dragon Tower in Zwolle. This iconic structure, originally built in 1409 as part of the city's defense works, features a distinctive tall wall tower topped with a spire and a dragon-shaped weather vane. The Dragon Tower played a crucial role in safeguarding the city by enabling archers to spot and deter enemy ships from a distance. Despite its historical significance, the tower was unfortunately demolished in 1853 for reasons that remain unclear. The society not only honors this legacy but also serves to educate the public about the tower’s rich history through various engaging activities. They offer a range of resources, including photographs, videos, and archival material, to immerse visitors in the stories of the Dragon Tower. By joining this society, members contribute to maintaining the heritage of Zwolle and celebrating a vital part of its architectural heritage.
