Deep Maps Cork is a brand that offers a unique and collaborative project called Deep Maps: West Cork Coastal Cultures. Developed by the School of BEES (School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Science) and the School of English at University College Cork, this initiative aims to explore and map the rich cultural heritage and environmental significance of the West Cork region. Launched in April 2016, Deep Maps Cork provides a comprehensive understanding of the region's past and present through interactive maps, scientific timelines, story maps, and deep mapping techniques.

With a focus on environmental priorities like biodiversity and conservation, climate change, fisheries and aquaculture, policy and legislation, pollution, and community perspectives, the project offers valuable insights into the history and development of the area. Led by Prof. Claire Connolly and Dr Rob McAllen, the project's interdisciplinary team comprises researchers from various disciplines, ensuring a comprehensive and well-rounded approach.

Thanks to the support of the Irish Research Council and the project Advisory Board, Deep Maps Cork continues to make significant contributions to the exploration and preservation of West Cork's cultural and natural heritage
