## Description

Défi énergie is an initiative founded by Vincent Mignerot that examines the challenges and assumptions behind the energy transition. Through its observatory, educational resources, studies, and proposed solutions, the site explores how energy use relates to human societies, industrial systems, and carbon dioxide emissions. Its content considers the physical properties of energy, the role of heat in industrial society, the materials and energy needed to build and maintain infrastructure, and the long-term resilience of energy systems.

Défi énergie takes a critical approach to claims that renewable energy and nuclear power can simply replace hydrocarbons and automatically reduce emissions. It presents questions and arguments about whether so-called substitute energy sources may also enable continued or expanded fossil-fuel use. Visitors can explore perspectives on emissions, learn about the initiative’s methodology, and engage with its discussion of the transition’s practical challenges. The organization also offers contact forms, a newsletter, and a way to support its work through Liberapay.
