## Description

Carnavalsvereniging De Gaanders is a community carnival association that has organized celebrations in Stompwijk for many years. During carnival, the village takes on the name “Gaandrië,” and the association works to bring residents of all ages together for a lively, welcoming season. Its program is open to members and non-members and includes the annual carnival parade, street carnival, themed evenings, and the announcement of the new Prince and Page. The association also has a longstanding connection with older residents. Its Oud Prinsen choir was established in 1989, following the 1987 carnival parade, and De Gaanders organizes an annual carnival service at the Heilige Laurentiuskerk. Alongside its celebrations, the association shares seasonal news, photographs, and program information, and invites people to become members. Its activities are supported by local sponsors and community participation. Through events that combine village traditions, entertainment, and opportunities to gather, De Gaanders helps make carnival a shared celebration for the Stompwijk community.
