## Description

Delhi Khel Mahakumbh is a flagship initiative of the Government of Delhi, undertaken by the Directorate of Education and Sports to strengthen sporting culture and identify grassroots talent across the capital. Beginning 29 January 2026, the large-scale, multi-sport event offers young athletes and sports enthusiasts a structured, inclusive setting to compete, develop skills and gain exposure. Its stated priorities include youth development, women’s participation and equal opportunities, guided by fitness, discipline, teamwork and fair play.

The programme features athletics, basketball, kabaddi, football, wrestling, squash and volleyball. Competition formats and activities vary by sport, with football, for example, using league and knockout formats. The initiative aims to nurture emerging talent, support traditional sports and help participants progress toward higher levels of competition. It also provides event registration information and tutorials, a visitor registration option, a QR-code download facility and a helpline. More than a tournament, Delhi Khel Mahakumbh presents itself as a community-focused movement to empower participants and contribute to a healthier, sport-driven Delhi.
