## Description

Denmark Bird Group Inc is a community organisation based in Denmark on the south coast of Western Australia. It advocates for birds and works to support conservation, promote awareness of local species and protect their habitats. The group organises monthly bird outings and committee meetings, along with talks and other educational and social events throughout the year. It also conducts bird surveys, contributing to local, national and international citizen science efforts that help monitor populations and inform conservation needs.

A key focus is the bird sanctuary at the mouth of Wilson Inlet, endorsed by the Shire in 2022. The sanctuary protects part of Prawn Rock Island and nearby mudflats used by shorebirds, waterbirds, seabirds and bush birds for feeding, resting and breeding. The group also supports conservation initiatives at Eungedup Wetlands, managed by the Wilson Inlet Catchment Committee with partner organisations. To help people discover and identify birds, Denmark Bird Group provides regional bird galleries, birding location suggestions, a bird guide, bulletin articles and information on owl-friendly practices.
