## Description

The Derwent Estuary Program in Hobart, TAS is an organization dedicated to preserving and managing the unique estuary located in this region. The Derwent estuary is a partially enclosed body of water where tidal seawater and fresh river water mix, creating a diverse and fragile ecosystem. The estuary stretches from the rural river town of New Norfolk to the Iron Pot lighthouse, offering a beautiful and fascinating natural environment to explore. The program offers a range of services and resources to educate and engage the public, including information on swimming, fishing, and seafood safety, walking and riding trails, and boating opportunities. They also provide comprehensive publications and maps about the estuary, as well as educational resources for schools and community groups. The program partners with various organizations to ensure the protection and sustainable management of the estuary, and they regularly monitor and report on the state of the Derwent through their State of the Derwent Reports. By supporting the Derwent Estuary Program, you can contribute to the preservation of this valuable ecosystem for future generations.
