## Description

Descamex, formally Descafeinadores Mexicanos S.A. de C.V., is a Mexican coffee decaffeination company based in Córdoba, Veracruz. Founded in 1980 by Domingo Muguira Revuelta, it established what the company describes as Latin America’s first decaffeination plant. Descamex specializes in producing decaffeinated coffee while preserving the beans’ flavor, aroma, and consistency. Its signature Mountain Water Process uses water-based decaffeination and achieves more than 97% extraction, according to the company. The process was patented in 1987, and Descamex reports receiving organic certification from OCIA in 2003. Its certifications and standards include requirements associated with the U.S. National Organic Program, the European Union, Mexico, and Japan. The company combines specialized equipment with process analysis to support coffee quality and bean yield. Its services include coffee decaffeination and export, and it shares information about coffee varieties, tasting, roasting, specialty coffee, and decaffeination through its website. Descamex serves the coffee industry with a focus on decaffeinated products and responsible business practices.
