## Description

The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) is a Queensland Government department working to support a thriving environment and economy. Its responsibilities span environmental protection, parks and forests, tourism, science, innovation and heritage. The department provides information and services for residents, businesses, visitors and researchers, including guidance on wildlife and ecosystems, environmental authorities, licences and permits, and the management of natural and heritage places.

Through its parks and forests services, DETSI helps people find places to visit, plan camping and other activities, and access park alerts. Its tourism work includes development, support, funding and grants, while its science and innovation programs promote Queensland’s research capability and industry engagement. The department also maintains the Queensland Heritage Register and provides information about heritage places, legislation and applications.

DETSI publishes news, reports, consultations and corporate information, and offers online services and channels for public feedback. Its work includes contributions from rangers and environmental officers who help protect Queensland’s wildlife and natural places.
