## Description

NHERI, the Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure, is a remarkable initiative funded by the National Science Foundation. It serves as a nationwide network of shared-use facilities specifically designed for the natural hazards engineering research community. Researchers within this collaborative network utilize these cutting-edge facilities to develop groundbreaking solutions for mitigating damage caused by earthquakes, windstorms, tsunamis, and other water hazards. The NHERI network consists of various components, including eight state-of-the-art research facilities and tools located at universities across the country, along with a post-disaster RAPID response facility. Additionally, the computational modeling and simulation center, known as the SimCenter, offers access to advanced computational modeling and simulation software tools, as well as user support and educational resources. Furthermore, the CONVERGE facility plays a crucial role in promoting interdisciplinary hazards and disaster research by fostering collaboration among social science and engineering researchers and interdisciplinary research teams. With a focus on cyberinfrastructure, DesignSafe-CI provides a cloud strategy for managing and analyzing big data generated by natural hazards engineering research. Overall, NHERI serves as an indispensable resource for the natural hazards engineering research community, facilitating innovation and collaboration to mitigate the impacts of natural disasters.
