## Description

Destination Earth (DestinE) is an ambitious initiative by the European Union to create a highly accurate digital model of our planet. Utilizing innovative technology such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and earth system models, DestinE harnesses an unprecedented amount of data from various sources to monitor the impact of natural and human activities on Earth. This cutting-edge platform allows users to anticipate extreme events and test policies addressing climate-related challenges. The DestinE system comprises several components, including the core service platform, data lake, and digital twin engine, which will be operational as part of the Commission's Digital Europe Programme. Over the next 7-10 years, the initiative will be jointly implemented by the European Space Agency (ESA), the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), and the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT). By 2030, DestinE aims to create a full digital replica of Earth, benefiting scientists and policymakers in understanding complex environmental interactions and shaping the future of our planet. It will support European adaptation strategies, the EU's goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, and the implementation of the European Commission's Green Deal and Digital Strategy.
