# De Trekkers - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `detrekkers.nl` ## Description De Trekkers is a Maastricht festivities association dedicated to serving the city and keeping its traditions alive. Its main role is to guide parades, processions and other public gatherings through Maastricht’s city centre, helping events proceed smoothly with a flexible, understated and spirited approach. The association supports a varied calendar that includes carnival celebrations, the arrival and proclamation of the carnival prince, the large and family parades, the Heiligdomsvaart, the city procession, the Giants’ Parade and King’s Day. It also assists at André Rieu concerts and provides services during the Preuvenemint, drawing on support from women and volunteer “Oethellep Trekkers” for larger events. Founded through earlier groups dating back to 1955, De Trekkers has operated under its current name since 1970. The men’s club has a maximum membership of 25 and meets to plan and review activities.
