About
Description
Detroit Action for a New Economy is a dynamic grassroots organization dedicated to building power for Black and Brown working class Detroiters. Rooted in the principles of justice, equality, and community empowerment, we tirelessly advocate for housing and economic justice. Led by a diverse and passionate staff, we offer a range of services and opportunities for individuals and families to thrive.
Our leadership development workshops, organizer internships, and nonpartisan voter education initiatives help our members develop as full human beings and gain the skills necessary to effect meaningful change. We actively collaborate with allied organizations locally, statewide, nationally, and even internationally to amplify our impact. Our mission is to challenge the root causes of poverty, promote human development, and create a just world where everyone has access to housing, healthcare, quality education, and a livable environment.
At Detroit Action, everyone is welcome regardless of immigration status, race, or gender identity. We provide a safe and supportive space where individuals can find solidarity and build the power to transform systems. Our organizing model integrates deep community organizing, key survival services, policy reform, transformative political innovation, celebrations of culture and life, and radical civic engagement.
We firmly believe in centering the most impacted, embracing radical politics, and fostering intersectionality and interdependence. Detroit Action is committed to creating a world rooted in love, tenderness, and justice. Join us and be a part of the movement for lasting change
