## Description

The Devon and Cornwall Record Society is a registered charity dedicated to promoting the study of history in South West England. It supports historical research by publishing and transcribing original records, making documentary sources about Devon and Cornwall more accessible to researchers and the wider public. Its publications cover a range of regional subjects, including churches, communities, buildings, taxation, maps, and social and political history. Recent titles include Cornish Churches in the Nineteenth Century: The Church Notes of the Lysons Brothers and Sir Stephen Glynne, edited by Paul Cockerham. The Society also shares historical scholarship through podcasts on YouTube, featuring researchers and specialists discussing topics from medieval Cornwall and Devon pottery to wartime Plymouth, local architecture, and women’s public and professional lives. Its website provides information about publications, membership, research, collections, events, and news, alongside resources and links for members and editors. Based at Devon Heritage Centre in Exeter, the Society connects people interested in the region’s past with original sources and new research.
