## Description

The Dementia Friendly Community Coalition of Marinette County is a community-based organization supporting people living with dementia-related illnesses and their caregivers. Its coalition brings together healthcare professionals, community members, and advocates for senior health and wellness, contributing to Wisconsin’s statewide efforts to improve the lives of those affected by dementia. The organization works to make the community safer, more respectful, and more welcoming through awareness, education, and engagement.

Its Purple Angel Dementia Friendly Program offers training to local businesses and community members, helping them understand dementia and learn ways to assist people living with the condition. The coalition also provides comfort bags containing sensory items intended to calm and distract individuals during emergencies or other stressful situations. Through Memory Movie field trips, people with memory loss, caregivers, and area seniors can enjoy classic films in a safe, comfortable setting. Its Grandpa and Lucy project introduces children to dementia through a book they can take home and share with family.
