:DFRI - Föreningen för Digitala Fri- och Rättigheter is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and promoting digital rights and freedoms. We believe that every individual has the right to control their own private information and digital footprint. At :DFRI, we work towards creating a society where digital rights and freedoms are respected and protected on all levels. One of our main initiatives is to educate the public about the importance of digital privacy and how to safeguard personal data online. We actively engage with lawmakers, businesses, and civil society to influence laws and practices related to digital privacy. Recently, we achieved a significant victory for digital rights. Several companies, including Tele2, Dagens Industri, CDON, and Coop, were found guilty of illegal data transfer by the Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY) for their use of Google Analytics. This tool unlawfully transfers personal data to the US without adequate protection. This decision is a powerful statement against the infringement of digital rights and freedoms. By enforcing fines and urging companies to cease using Google Analytics, IMY has set clear boundaries for how businesses can utilize personal data. This decision highlights the importance of respecting user rights and reinforces the role of transparent data protection in the digital economy. :DFRI will continue to fight for these issues and encourage both businesses and individuals to prioritize the protection of personal information in the digital landscape.
