## Description

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation, established 30 years ago by the founding family of Dollar General, is dedicated to empowering individuals through literacy and education initiatives. Our mission focuses on fostering lifelong learning by providing grants to nonprofit organizations, schools, and libraries within a 15-mile radius of our stores. Through these programs, we support learners of all ages in achieving fundamental educational goals, including reading proficiency, preparation for high school equivalency tests, and English language acquisition.

Honoring the legacy of co-founder J.L. Turner, who overcame educational barriers, our foundation continues to address literacy challenges across the nation. We actively collaborate with local literacy providers and national partners to ensure the success of teachers and students alike. Our research-based approach has shaped our funding opportunities, aimed at closing gaps in resources and meeting diverse learner needs. By investing in innovative literacy solutions, we strive to create brighter futures, enhance educational quality, and promote personal and economic growth for all members of our community.
