## Description

The German Society for Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic Surgery (DGOOC) is a nonprofit medical and scientific organization with around 3,000 members. For 125 years, it has helped shape orthopaedics in Germany, supporting progress in research, teaching and patient care. The society brings together professionals across the field and provides opportunities for continuing education, networking, exchange and early-career development, while representing the specialty in health policy.

DGOOC supports scientific work through specialist sections, committees, publications, research awards, scholarships and fellowships. Its educational offerings include courses in Specialised Orthopaedic Surgery, with theoretical and practical training in areas such as the spine, knee, shoulder, foot, hip and tumours. The society also promotes quality initiatives in joint replacement, including the EndoCert certification system, and contributes to analysis through the German Arthroplasty Registry.

For patients, DGOOC points to Orthinform, an information portal with a search for doctors and clinics. It also shares news, guidelines, professional event listings and updates through its publications and online resources.
