## Description

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie (DGPh) is a nonprofit association based in Cologne, Germany, dedicated to advancing photography and related image media in cultural contexts. Its work spans photography’s roles in art, science, education, publishing, business and politics, with particular attention to the connections and interactions between these fields. The DGPh brings together members through specialist sections, professional networks, regional meetings, talks, exhibitions and other events, while sharing news and resources through its publications, blog and media library. It also recognizes achievement and supports emerging talent through a broad range of awards and grants. These include distinctions for cultural contribution, photojournalism, photographic curation, artistic practice, education, research, innovative publishing and photography books. Some awards celebrate established accomplishments, while section-based funding supports promising projects by photographers and researchers. Award recipients are selected through member nominations or applications, with decisions made by juries. Through these activities, the DGPh fosters discussion, exchange and recognition across the many areas shaped by photography.
