About
Description
DHTIOakland, also known as Diversity in Health Training Institute (DHTI), is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 2011. They aim to address the shortage of healthcare workers and cater to the needs of the growing immigrant population in East Bay, Northern California. As the Affordable Care Act was passed in 2010, there was a pressing need to bridge the gap in healthcare services for underserved immigrant and marginalized communities across the United States.
DHTI initially began as a pilot re-entry training program for international nurses in 2007. Over the years, they have successfully helped foreign-trained nurses in becoming qualified Registered Nurses (RNs) in the U. S.
Their Immigrant Nursing Re-entry Program (INRP) has served 84 students from various ethnic backgrounds, speaking over 25 languages. Notably, 90% of the students in the first three years completed the program, with half of the graduates securing immediate healthcare jobs. Recognizing the emergence of Allied Healthcare Careers as a potential opportunity for foreign-trained immigrants, DHTI expanded its focus to provide professional growth opportunities.
Through their comprehensive healthcare career pathways, they support individuals in pursuing self-sustaining careers in the healthcare industry. DHTIOakland is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive healthcare workforce that can better understand and meet the needs of the communities they serve
