## Description

The DDG Working Group on Diabetes, Sport and Exercise is an official committee of the German Diabetes Society (DDG), registered as an association. It brings together doctors, healthcare and counselling professionals, sports scientists, and exercise instructors to promote collaboration across disciplines. Its mission is to make physical activity an integral part of diabetes care. The group highlights exercise and increased activity, alongside healthy eating, as first-choice foundational measures for people with impaired glucose tolerance and type 2 diabetes. For people with type 1 diabetes, it emphasizes the role of sport in cardiovascular prevention and quality of life.

The organization offers information and activities for people with both types of diabetes, including a doctor-patient seminar, a diabetes and sport weekend, and an experiential hiking event. It also supports professionals and facilities through initiatives such as fitness-studio quality certification, rehabilitation exercise groups, yoga resources, and programs for practices, trainers, and fitness studios.
