## Description

Diabete Sommerso ODV is an Italian volunteer organization that promotes scuba diving for people with diabetes, challenging the idea that the condition must prevent participation in underwater activities. Its message, “diabetes and scuba diving? Simply yes,” reflects a focus on inclusion, shared experience and safe access to the sport. The organization brings people together through diving activities, educational programs and events, including its DS Scuba Camp and themed teaching weeks. These experiences combine underwater adventure with therapeutic education for people with type 1 diabetes, helping participants learn and engage in a supportive community. Diabete Sommerso also highlights safety and informed participation through its diving protocol, scientific and technical committees, and DS Network. Its website shares news, event calendars, community stories and information about the organization’s mission and project. People can get involved by becoming members, joining activities, or supporting the organization through donations and Italy’s five-per-thousand tax allocation. With its emphasis on belonging and discovery, Diabete Sommerso encourages members to explore the underwater world without prejudice.
