Digestive Cancers Europe (DiCE) is the leading European umbrella organization for patients with digestive cancers, including colorectal, gastric, liver, esophageal, pancreatic, and rare cancers. Our primary goal is to contribute to early diagnosis and decreased mortality rates while improving overall survival and quality of life for patients. Founded in 2018 by Jolanta Gore-Booth, Stefan Gijssels, and Prof. Dr. Eric Van Cutsem, DiCE grew from EuropaColon, established in 2005 by Jolanta Gore-Booth. Every year, approximately 800,000 citizens in Europe receive a diagnosis of digestive cancer, with 500,000 deaths resulting from these cancers. However, the unfortunate truth is that a significant number of these deaths can be prevented through the application of best practices. Currently, there is no country in Europe where best practices are consistently applied. At DiCE, our mission is to ensure that best practices are implemented across Europe, enabling citizens to have access to high-quality cancer care. Working closely with our members, partners, physicians, and politicians, we aim to raise awareness, advocate for policy change, support patients and carers, provide resources, and promote research participation.
