## Description

Northern Ireland Screen's Digital Film Archive (DFA) is a rich resource preserving over 128 years of moving images from Northern Ireland, featuring both amateur and professional films from 1897 to 2025. Launched in 2000 as part of a Millennium Project, the DFA offers free public access to a vast collection that documents Northern Irish society as well as pre-Partition Ireland. Users can explore thousands of titles across diverse genres, including broadcast news, documentaries, feature films, television dramas, and animations.

The Digital Film Archive is readily accessible either from home or through designated terminals at various partners such as museums and universities throughout Northern Ireland. Furthermore, Northern Ireland Screen actively engages with the community by offering themed presentations tailored to the interests of various groups, from schools to historical societies, fostering a deeper connection to the films. Interested individuals can also contribute footage for consideration by reaching out via email or phone. This initiative promotes a greater appreciation for the region's film heritage.
