## Description

DisCO Coop is a brand that offers a refreshing and inclusive economic alternative to the traditional decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). As the acronym suggests, DisCO stands for Distributed Cooperative Organization, a name that encompasses their mission of cooperative, commons-oriented, and feminist economics. DisCOs combine the power of distributed ledger/blockchain technologies with a human-centric approach, fostering mutual trust and fun in the process. Unlike DAOs, DisCOs prioritize social and environmental ends, multi-constituency, and care work. These principles guide their operations as they create commons, engage in generative economic activity, and advocate for fair conditions in the marketplace. DisCO Coop aims to collaborate with self-organized workers globally, develop free tools and models, and extensively document their progress. By weaving practices from the Commons and P2P movements, cooperatives, and the Social and Solidarity Economy, DisCO Coop presents a promising future of work.
