## Description

Akin is a two-sided marketplace that helps people discover creative hobbies and connect with independent studios, workshops, and community hubs. Its platform brings creative experiences together in one place, allowing hobby-seekers to explore, book, and pay for workshops such as pottery, candle-making, and painting. Akin also helps users find welcoming local spaces, meet like-minded people, and build connections through shared interests.

For independent creators and business owners, Akin offers a way to submit events, gain visibility through its directory and newsletter, and reach new audiences. The brand combines event discovery with community features, focusing specifically on creative hobbies rather than general-purpose ticketing. Akin is currently launching in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and has plans to expand to Detroit, New York City, and Boston. Through its website, app, local listings, interviews, and monthly creative-events newsletter, Akin encourages people to make time for creativity and find places where they feel at home. Its mission is to help people discover new hobbies, meet creative people, and find a sense of community.
