## Description

Disphotic is a thought-provoking blog dedicated to the diverse landscape of photography, exploring its various forms and implications, including citizen journalism and the often overlooked influence of digital search engines. Founded and managed by Lewis Bush, a knowledgeable photographer, writer, researcher, and lecturer at the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London, Disphotic aims to illuminate the complexities and contradictions inherent in the world of photography.

The brand name 'Disphotic' is derived from an ancient oceanographic term that denotes a region of limited light, metaphorically reflecting the scarcity of clear discourse surrounding photography practices. Through insightful critiques and reflections, Disphotic addresses how power dynamics affect photography, shedding light on often murky institutional practices, and making challenging concepts more accessible to photographers and enthusiasts alike.

In addition to engaging articles, Disphotic offers resources like a newsletter, online shop, and lists of books and exhibitions, making it a valuable hub for anyone interested in understanding the multifaceted discourse of photography.
