## Description

Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) is a fast-moving organization within the Department of Defense (DoD) that collaborates with commercial companies to address national security challenges. Their mission is to strengthen national security by accelerating the adoption of cutting-edge commercial technology throughout the military and fostering innovation in the national security sector. DIU operates in various critical technology sectors and maintains offices in Silicon Valley, Boston, Austin, Chicago, and inside the Pentagon, serving as the DoD's gateway to leading technology companies nationwide. DIU engages directly with venture capital firms and the commercial technology innovation ecosystem to develop and deploy dual-use capabilities that address operational challenges at scale and speed. Their streamlined process enables the delivery of prototypes to DoD partners within 12 to 24 months, providing revenue opportunities for their commercial vendors. Successful prototypes can transition to follow-on production agreements or contracts. DIU also emphasizes transparency, publishing annual reports that provide insights into their activities, performance metrics, project highlights, and goals. They focus on thought leadership, reform, and responsible AI adoption. DIU's regional approach includes satellite offices in Silicon Valley, Boston, Austin, Chicago, and the Pentagon. If you're a DoD entity or a commercial company interested in collaborating on innovative solutions, DIU is the ideal partner to address your needs and strengthen the nation's security.
