## Description

Dresdner Institut für Verkehr und Umwelt e. V. (DIVU) is an association dedicated to promoting research and scholarship on transport where they support the long-term preservation and improvement of natural and human living conditions. The institute shares information about its work with interested visitors and provides ways to learn about the association, contact its members, and explore its publications.

A central focus of DIVU is sustainable development in transport. The institute highlights the environmental and social costs of ever-increasing traffic, including land consumption, noise, emissions, energy use, accidents, and carbon dioxide. It advocates a shift in mobility planning away from vehicles and traffic volumes and toward people and their needs: reaching places for work, shopping, education, social activities, healthcare, and holidays.

In collaboration with transport ecologists from Germany and abroad, a multi-year process at TU Dresden developed ten guiding principles for sustainable transport. These principles are presented in the Dresden Declaration on the Transport Transition, which visitors can endorse.
