Diabetes often goes unnoticed in the early stages, with symptoms only appearing when the disease has already progressed. Neglecting treatment at this stage can lead to complications like diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy, neuropathy, as well as major vascular disorders like stroke, heart attack, and atherosclerosis. Early intervention through lifestyle changes, diet therapy, and exercise can improve blood sugar levels. However, as diabetes progresses, the importance of preventing and treating complications that significantly affect quality of life increases, and medication becomes vital. Detecting and initiating appropriate treatment for diabetes patients is an urgent issue for the nation's overall health. Maintaining stable blood sugar levels is crucial, as diabetes is a chronic condition that affects various organs. Nowadays, there is an increasing focus on preventing diabetes, with products that address carbohydrate intake appearing more frequently. However, there is skepticism about whether people fully understand the relationship between blood sugar and their health. Therefore, the Diabetes Treatment Research Association designated October 8th, a significant milestone year that marks 40 years since the proposal of self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) and 30 years since its health insurance coverage, as Measure Your Sugar Day.
