## Description

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) is Sri Lanka’s national organisation for coordinating disaster preparedness, risk reduction, early warning and emergency response. Its work is guided by national disaster management policies, plans and legislation, including the National Disaster Management Plan 2023–2030 and the National Emergency Operational Plan. The Centre coordinates with government bodies, district disaster management units, the military and police, and other partners to support communities before, during and after emergencies.

The DMC provides public emergency alerts and situation updates, including weather, flood, river-level and landslide information, as well as details on roads closed by disasters. Its services include preparedness planning, public awareness and training, mitigation and research, and operations through the National Emergency Operations Centre and early warning systems. The organisation also shares guidance, educational materials, annual reports and post-disaster assessments, and supports relief coordination and search-and-rescue requests. Through its website, people can access emergency contacts, disaster information, donation details and resources for responding to events such as Cyclone Ditwah.
