## Description

Dobie Dichos, Inc. presents an annual literary event in Oakville, Texas, celebrating the life and legacy of J. Frank Dobie, Live Oak County’s most famous son and a major figure in Texas literature, folklore, and storytelling. The gathering brings together Texas writers, performers, and musicians to read from and discuss Dobie’s work, while sharing stories and performances that keep regional traditions alive. Its program combines literature with the atmosphere of an outdoor community gathering, featuring campfires, chili con carne, barbecue, and conversation beneath the stars. The event also highlights South Texas storytelling history and the contributions of contemporary Texas creatives. Dobie Dichos offers tickets for its scheduled program, with some tickets available at the gate, and publishes event schedules and participant information for attendees. Businesses and organizations can support the event through sponsorship, while visitors can explore related press coverage and features about Dobie and the gathering. Held on the first Friday in November, Dobie Dichos provides a welcoming setting to experience the words and cultural influence of J.
