## Description

The Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSHS) is part of Kenya’s State Department of Labour and Skills Development. Its mandate is to promote safe, healthy workplaces and support compliance with occupational safety and health standards. Headquartered at Safety House in Nairobi, DOSHS serves employers and workers through regional offices in 29 counties.

Its services include workplace and plant registration, workplace inspections and audits, plant examination and testing, medical surveillance, accident investigation, and processing of workers’ compensation cases under WIBA. The Directorate also registers approved persons and institutions and provides training in areas such as fire safety, first aid, occupational safety and health committees, and plant inspection.

DOSHS offers professional courses for people seeking specialized safety skills or qualifications. These include proficiency certificates in work at height and first aid auditing, as well as a six-month Certificate Course in Occupational Safety and Health. Depending on the course, learning is online or blended, with practical sessions, site visits, projects, or examinations.
