Down Syndrome Galway & Voices for Down Syndrome Galway | Galway is a voluntary organization dedicated to supporting individuals with Down Syndrome and their families in County Galway. With over 305 members of all ages, their mission is to improve the quality of life for people with Down Syndrome by providing information, support, and friendship. They believe in the value and acceptance of individuals with Down Syndrome in their community. Their services include a range of activities, groups, and clubs, as well as educational programs for preschool, primary, and second-level education. They also offer resources, publications, and training for both new parents and professionals. The organization employs two full-time speech and language therapists, as well as a part-time administrator for their Voices for Down Syndrome Galway and Little Owls speech and language therapy projects. They also have a part-time Regional Resource Officer to support members across the lifespan. Down Syndrome Galway relies solely on contributions from members and the generosity of the public through donations and fundraising events. With an annual expenditure of €200,000, they are always grateful for support through various fundraising initiatives, including Churchgate Collections, Mini Marathons, Bike to Bofin, and more.
