## Description

Promoting comics on the web since 1998, the site describes its articles as written by humans and is led by comics writer and publisher John Freeman. Its coverage combines current news, features and interviews with extensive reference material, with particular attention to British comics and creators. Readers can find updates on publishers, books, graphic novels, events, exhibitions and auctions, alongside reviews and release guides. The site also documents British comic characters, titles and industry history, and explores connections between comics, television and theatre, including Doctor Who. For aspiring creators, downthetubes offers practical resources on developing, printing and distributing comics, creating digital comics, and finding creator tools and recommended reading. Its additional projects include Crucible Comic Press, with work such as WarWorldz and Charlotte Corday. The publication also provides event listings, comic shop and back-issue stockist information, creator profiles, a news archive and a newsletter, serving comic readers, researchers and people making comics.
