The Irish Computer Society (ICS) is the proud host of the Association of Data Protection Officers (ADPO). ADPO is a membership organization that caters to individuals actively working as Data Protection Officers in their respective organizations. The association provides a platform for sharing ideas, voicing concerns, seeking clarity on new legislation, and offering insights on the demands and challenges of the role.

Membership is open to anyone in a data management position, whether formally or informally. The main objective of ADPO is to address issues and raise awareness regarding data protection legislation. With an increasing number of data-related concerns in the media, ADPO is timely and relevant.

The association strives to assist individuals in defining data management strategies, establishing practical processes, and ensuring compliance with Irish DP legislation. Additionally, ADPO acknowledges the upcoming changes in data protection regulations and offers support to organizations managing personal data as part of their strategies. The association's inaugural Steering Committee comprises of senior Data Protection Officers from various Irish public-sector and commercial organizations.
