## Description

Dr. Mel Newton is the professional and creative brand of a Northern California veterinarian, writer, and endurance enthusiast. A practicing relief veterinarian working with multiple clinics across the region, Dr. Mel focuses on emergency medicine and surgery. The brand also helps pet owners better understand animal health through educational content and convenient, on-demand consultations, which include a written summary and email follow-up.

Writing is central to Dr. Mel Newton’s work. The long-running blog, active since 2009, shares stories, practical how-to articles, and resources intended to encourage readers to pursue meaningful challenges. Its topics include endurance riding, training, and the experiences of a veterinarian who enjoys 100-mile events on horseback and on foot. Dr. Mel also works as a nationally published freelance writer.

Books and Bar Napkin Guides bring selected expertise to readers in accessible formats. Titles cover practical know-how for endurance riders and step-by-step guidance for preparing ebooks for publication.
